Chloe Kim: Inspiring Young Female Snowboarders and Her Love for the Mountains

Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim has won numerous accolades in her life, yet one of the most rewarding experiences is interacting with young girls on the slopes. She highlighted how fulfilling it is to inspire others through her passion for snowboarding.

Chloe Kim’s Impact on Young Girls

Whenever Kim is on the mountains, young girls approach her to express how she inspires them and share the cool tricks they are learning. She finds it incredibly rewarding that young girls aspire to follow in her footsteps.

Olympic Achievements

In 2018, Kim became the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboarding gold medal at the Pyeongchang games at just 17 years old. Her achievements continued in 2022 with another gold at the Beijing Olympics. Looking ahead to 2026, Kim plans to compete in her third Olympics in Italy.

Empowerment Through Support

Kim believes that her public platform has been one of the most rewarding aspects of her career. Initially focused solely on winning medals, she now recognizes the impact she has on other women and young girls. This realization has proven to be more fulfilling than any gold medal.

In partnership with Mucinex Fast-Max, Kim supports the “Small But Mighty” campaign, donating $100,000 to five YMCA chapters this year. This initiative includes funding for the Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA’s winter youth leadership program, which resonates deeply with her humble beginnings as part of an immigrant family.

Travel Adventures

Born and raised in California, Kim started her snowboarding journey at Mountain High Resorts, not far from Los Angeles, and continued at Mammoth Mountain. Today, she travels globally for competitions and leisure, with enduring memories from trips to Japan for its stunning powder days.

Her favorite destination remains the Swiss Alps, particularly Crans-Montana, where she lived for several years. She appreciates the culture, the breathtaking scenery, and the opportunity to practice her French. Kim aspires to have a home there in the future.

While her travels typically center around colder climates, she is eager to explore warm-weather destinations like Thailand, Bora Bora, and Jamaica. With time off on the horizon, Kim aims to integrate more relaxation and warm escapes into her itinerary.

Embracing Jet Lag

As she prepares for the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy, Kim looks forward to enjoying the local cuisine, particularly pasta and wine. However, she admits that she struggles with jet lag. Rather than resist it, she has learned to appreciate the quiet moments that come with early morning wake-ups while traveling.

Ultimately, Kim finds beauty in her journey, balancing the demands of competition with the joy of travel and inspiring the next generation of athletes.
