Halloween Overview
Safety Tips for Trick or Treaters
On Halloween night, little ghosts, goblins, witches, Batmen, and Wonder Women venture out under the spooky dark sky in the greater Cincinnati area. Although Beggar’s Night can be delightful, it can also pose unexpected challenges. Therefore, always adhere to Halloween safety precautions during trick or treating. Be sure to:
- Visit only well-lit houses.
- Travel in groups and carry a flashlight.
- Keep a cell phone handy for emergencies.
- Walk on the sidewalks instead of the streets.
The City of Cincinnati urges trick or treaters to refrain from consuming candy until they reach home, ensuring that every piece is inspected for sealed wrappers and safety.
Adult Responsibilities
The role of adults is crucial in ensuring a safe environment for trick or treaters. To help protect the little ones, consider the following measures:
- Dress children in light-colored, fire-retardant clothing.
- Use reflective tape on darker costumes, enhancing visibility.
- Opt for makeup instead of masks to prevent vision obstruction.
- Ensure costumes are ankle-length to avoid tripping hazards.
- Illuminate your front porch and steps, and clear any dangerous items from your yard.
If you notice any suspicious activities, call 911 for assistance. Furthermore, do not give out unwrapped candy!
