1. Introduction to All-Inclusive Ski Resorts
Discover how all-inclusive hotels are revolutionizing the ski experience.
2. Club Med Tignes: A Modern Alpine Experience
As I sat still in my ski gear, beer in hand, listening to a live band play Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” I reveled in the ultimate après-ski experience. The best part? It was all-inclusive.
The day before this moment of bliss, I checked into Club Med Tignes, located in the breathtaking French Alps. Officially opening on Dec. 4, this 430-room hotel is nestled in a pristine valley surrounded by towering mountains, providing stunning views through numerous picture windows.
Club Med is no stranger to the area. Having first opened in Tignes in 1958, it underwent a complete revamp in 2020, replacing the old property with a brand-new resort, adding to the portfolio of Club Med hotels across the Alps.
3. Embracing the Surroundings
“What we’re trying to do is to keep the influence of the region. It’s alpine, but modern alpine,” shared Carolyne Doyon, regional president and CEO at Club Med, during our conversation in the lobby. “One of the things that we do when we build or renovate one of our resorts is we try not to disturb our surroundings.”
4. Incredible Views and Activities
Those surroundings are indeed breathtaking. Mountain views dominate every space, from the front lobby to the bar, where warm tea awaits chilled skiers and the nightlife begins after dusk.
5. The Skiing Experience
As I carved my way along Piste Henri, I absorbed the views of craggy cliffs and the limitless mountaintops. Stopping at the top near the Bollin lift, I savored the amazing scene, and even my guide, Louis Nolan, a seasoned ski instructor, appreciated the perfect day with clear skies.
With a well-rounded mix of terrain across 154 runs, the resort accommodates all skill levels. Guests benefit from twice-daily group ski lessons included in their stay, efficiently organized by skill level.
6. Convenience and Comfort
After a day on the slopes, I headed to the hotel’s ski-in, ski-out locker room, featuring dedicated lockers with boot warmers. This convenient system streamlined my experience, as the locker opened with my wristband, which also served as my room key.
7. Relaxation and Dining
“It’s a one-stop shop,” Doyon mentioned. Guests can unwind at the spa, which offers quick massages targeting sore muscles before heading to the bar for après-ski. I enjoyed a chilled Kronenbourg 1664 while mingling with fellow skiers.
The hotel offers two dining options: a buffet and a seated gourmet restaurant. The buffet featured delightful stations and decadent nightly desserts.
8. Activities Beyond Skiing
While skiing is the main attraction, the resort has much more to offer. For those taking a break from the slopes, there’s a 25-meter-long pool, fitness classes like yoga, or peaceful reading spots with mountain views.
9. Club Med’s Expansion
Club Med is expanding its all-inclusive offerings, recently opening its first ski resort in Canada and planning another location in Utah by 2025.
10. Conclusion
After several days filled with mountain views, delectable treats, and exhilarating runs, it’s clear that skiers and riders will embrace the all-inclusive lifestyle for both skiing and après-ski enjoyment.
