We’re all at home these days thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, culture-lovers who are missing museums may enjoy a video game that allows players to build their own unique art gallery.
The art generator tool has been developed by the Getty Center in Los Angeles. It is designed for use in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a life simulation video game developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch console. This engaging game allows players to design their ideal island lifestyle from the comfort of their homes. Players can plant and nurture fruit trees, trade clothing with friends, decorate their houses, invest in stocks, and collect bugs.
The Animal Crossing Art Generator tool enables players to incorporate museum artworks into the game. Therefore, you can wear Van Gogh’s Irises on your shirt, enhance your wallpaper with a Renoir or Monet, showcase Rembrandt on your island flag, or even host your very own art exhibition. This innovative generator allows any image from Getty Center’s open-access collection to become a mini artwork for Animal Crossing.
Players can easily search for art and artists in the collection and scan the generated QR code to import artwork into their game, allowing it to feature on clothing, wallpaper, canvas, and more. Moreover, the tool includes an IIIF manifest converter, making it straightforward to transform and share open-access artworks from other museums for use in the game.
