Curaçao Welcomes Back Travelers from the US
The Caribbean island of Curaçao has announced plans to open its borders to residents of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut starting in November, with additional states potentially following soon. This move marks the first step in reopening the tourism industry for US travelers since restrictions were put in place earlier this year.
Known for its vibrant Dutch architecture, rich cultural heritage, beautiful museums, street art, and pristine white-sand beaches, Curaçao is an appealing destination for those seeking a Caribbean getaway. However, travelers should be aware of the necessary steps to ensure a smooth entry into the island.
To ensure a safe visit, all incoming travelers must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken within 72 hours prior to their arrival. Furthermore, visitors are required to upload their results to the Digital Immigration Card, available for submission within 48 hours before travel. Additionally, a brief health questionnaire must be filled out in the app. Residents from the tri-state area must also present a valid state-issued ID to confirm their residency.
In response to visitor needs, iBestTravel has developed a mobile app called “Dushi Stay” (with “dushi” meaning “sweet” in Papiamento, the local language). This app provides travelers with crucial information regarding entry requirements, health protocols, emergency contact numbers, health tips, and a guide to local restaurants, attractions, and beaches.
Residents of the tri-state area will soon join travelers from other low-risk countries visiting Curaçao. The Curaçao Tourist Board is monitoring the situation across the rest of the US, with plans to open to more gateway cities as soon as conditions permit.
If you are eager to explore this stunning island, it is worth noting that starting November 7, United Airlines will provide a weekly non-stop service from Newark Airport to Curaçao, followed by a twice-weekly service from JFK Airport through JetBlue beginning December 9.
