Explore the Custom V-8 Engine Upgrade for Classic Land Rover Defenders

Land Rover Defender V-8 Classic Restomod

Land Rover has been integrating robust V-8 engines into its classic Defender line of off-road vehicles since the late 1970s. The latest Defender models consistently feature a V-8; however, those older V-8s do not compare with modern engines. Therefore, the new restomod combines a classic Defender body with contemporary V-8 power. This unique vehicle is developed by the Land Rover Classic Works Bespoke division, providing an exclusive blend of heritage and performance.

Donor Defenders

The Classic Works Bespoke division specifically engages with donor “old” Defenders produced from 2012 to 2016. These models are selected for their relative newness, helping to minimize the need for extensive overhauls despite the comprehensive modifications they undergo. Both 90 and 110 body styles are included, offering both two-door and four-door configurations.

Defender V-8 Upgrade

The transformation involves meticulous handwork, introducing a new naturally aspirated Land Rover V-8 engine, delivering an impressive 405 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels, ensuring robust all-wheel drive capabilities.

Classic Defender Customization

Clients can enjoy extensive customization through a comprehensive catalog of interior and exterior options via a digital configurator. Expert assistance is available from the specialist teams in Coventry, UK, and Essen, Germany. Paint color can be matched to any shade, or clients can choose from established Land Rover palettes, including Heritage, Contemporary, Premium, and SV Metallic options. Additionally, clients can select from various grilles and various detail packages for scripting and trim accessories.

Classic Defender V-8 Wheels

Clients can also opt for either black or Limestone colored 16-inch Wolf wheels, or choose to enhance their vehicles with optional 18-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels. Available exterior accessories enrich the customization, including side steps, roof racks, expedition cages, ladders, off-road winches, classic-style roof-mounted spotlights, and full roof-mounted LED light bars.

Defender V-8 Interior Upgrades

The interior of the classic Defender features upgrades with an array of materials chosen by the owner, showcasing a modern shifter. Options for seating and interior finishes include five monotone or eight duotone leather choices, in addition to Recaro seats or a Premium seating configuration. A digital radio and navigation are controlled via a 3.5-inch touchscreen integrated into the dashboard.

Defender V-8 Camper

The customization options extend further with an Adventure Pack, which includes a roof-mounted tent and ladder, or a Ply Guys Camper Conversion that converts the interior into a livable space suitable for camping. All vehicles are equipped with advanced four-piston Alcon brakes and an upgraded suspension kit, featuring Eibach coil springs, anti-roll bars, and Bilstein dampers, ensuring exceptional off-road performance.

Classic Defender V-8 Restomod Pricing

The pricing for the Defender V-8 restomod begins at $250,766 for the smallest variant. The price increases to $262,644 for the five-seater station wagon and up to $269,243 for the seven-seat 110 station wagon version, excluding fees, delivery costs, or additional customization options. The new restomods are set to debut at the Goodwood Revival event in early September, providing an excellent opportunity to witness this extraordinary blend of classic design and modern technology.
