Annual Christmas Sausage Dog Walk in Hyde Park
Seeing a little sausage dog is delightful; however, a practical parade of sausage dogs is a true Christmas miracle.
Lucky Londoners attended the annual Christmas Sausage Dog Walk in Hyde Park on December 15, where hundreds of dachshunds and their humans gathered to celebrate the festive season, as reported by The Daily Mail. Notably, even non-sausage dogs were welcomed since walking benefits all dogs.
The Hyde Park Sausage Walk began in 2017, initiated by dachshund owner Ana Rodriguez and her dog Winston, according to Metro. Last year, over 500 dogs participated in this festive gathering. The Hyde Park Sausage Walk hosts events year-round; nevertheless, the holiday season attracts the most dog owners.
Festive Dress for Dogs and Humans
Owners were encouraged to don their holiday best. While some chose cozy Christmas sweaters, others went all out in traditional red hats or reindeer antlers, indulging in festive costumes resembling snowmen, elves, Santa Claus, and even holiday props such as scarves, tinsel, bells, and adorable bandanas.
In fact, one dog sported a bandana that cheekily read, “Merry Christmas, you filthy animal,” catering to the fans of the classic movie “Home Alone.” Consequently, all dogs looked impossibly (or perhaps im-paw-sibly?) adorable in their festive outfits, making the photos well worth a look.
The gatherings serve not only as a way for dogs to get exercise and socialize but also provide an excellent opportunity for dog owners to forge friendships and exchange valuable tips on dog care. London is an exceptional city for dachshund enthusiasts, especially during the Christmas season, as it also features various pug, French bulldog, and dachshund cafes and festive events.
In summary, the event was a delightful opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, even if the weather is slightly chilly in London at this time of year.
