Delta Air Lines is enhancing its flight capacity to Latin America and the Caribbean by 30 percent next winter, featuring additional flights to popular destinations from Costa Rica to San Juan. This expansion allows delta to operate over 1,000 weekly flights to these regions next year.
New Routes Launch Details
The new routes will commence on January 13, 2024, from key airports such as Atlanta, New York, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Boston. The increased frequency will include seasonal flights on Saturdays to destinations like St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Guatemala, San José, Liberia, San Juan, Cancun, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay. Consequently, Delta will offer six daily flights from Atlanta to San Juan, three from New York to Cancun, and two daily from Minneapolis to Punta Cana, Montego Bay, and San Juan.
Providing a Gateway to the U.S.
According to Delta’s statement, these new routes will serve as “a crucial gateway to the U.S. for customers, offering seamless onward connections to as many as 100 U.S. cities through Delta’s largest hub in Atlanta.”
Seasonally-Operated Flight Additions
In addition to these new routes, Delta will launch an extra seasonally-operated flight from Seattle to Cancun on Fridays, with a return trip on Saturdays beginning December 22.
Future Flight Plans
Furthermore, this expansion follows Delta’s recent plans to increase flights to Colombia in partnership with LATAM Airlines, as well as enhancements to flight capacity for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean in anticipation of the holiday season. Moreover, in December, Delta will resume flights to the Caribbean island of Curaçao for the first time in over a decade.
