Delta Air Lines Announces New Routes to South America

It will soon be easier and faster for travelers to fly throughout South America from the U.S. Delta Air Lines has announced new flights to Colombia, partnering with LATAM Airlines, in time for the upcoming holiday travel season. For the first time, passengers can enjoy daily service between Miami and Medellín operated by LATAM Airlines. Additionally, LATAM will be launching new service between Atlanta and Lima, Peru.

New Flights to Colombia and Peru

Delta will operate flights from Miami to Medellín through LATAM and from Atlanta to Lima daily. Moreover, the airline plans to fly from Atlanta to both Cartagena and Bogota several times a week.

The new Miami to Medellín service is set to commence on October 29, while the Atlanta to Cartagena service is scheduled to begin on December 22. Delta had previously announced flights from Orlando to Bogota starting July 1, Los Angeles to Sao Paulo on August 1, and New York (JFK) to Rio de Janeiro beginning December 16.

According to Delta’s Vice President for Latin America, Alex Antilla, “The mission of Delta and the LATAM group’s partnership is to make travel between our Joint Venture markets in North and South America easier and more enjoyable, and to bring the continents closer than ever.” This strong commitment underscores the focus on enhancing travel experiences across a vast network.

Frequent flyers of Delta can benefit greatly from this partnership, as they will continue to receive all elite benefits such as earning SkyMiles, priority boarding, lounge access, and additional baggage allowances when utilizing these new partner flights with LATAM.

LATAM Airlines was formed in 2016 following the merger of LAN Airlines and TAM Airlines. This combined group offers extensive air services throughout South America, with a major focus on countries including Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, and more.
