Summary of Delta Air Lines and Starbucks Partnership
Delta Air Lines has launched an exciting new initiative to earn miles through a fresh partnership with Starbucks, enhancing the travel experience for both frequent flyers and coffee enthusiasts alike.
1. New Miles Earning Opportunity
The collaboration enables members of both Delta’s SkyMiles program and Starbucks’ Rewards program to earn perks at both companies. Travelers can anticipate a seamless linking experience that allows them to earn rewards across both platforms.
2. Linking Accounts for Rewards
By linking their accounts online, customers can earn one mile for every $1 spent on eligible purchases at Starbucks. Moreover, Starbucks loyalty members will earn double stars on eligible purchases on days when they have a scheduled flight with Delta, consequently enhancing their rewards potential.
3. Bonus Offers for Customers
In a bid to incentivize customers, those who link their accounts and complete a qualifying purchase through December 31 will earn a bonus of 500 miles with Delta and 150 stars with Starbucks. This is an excellent opportunity for travelers to accumulate rewards more quickly.
4. Additional Benefits for Loyalty Members
Starbucks offers customers the chance to redeem their stars for various items: 50 stars can be exchanged for a free brewed hot coffee, bakery item, or hot tea, while 150 stars can be redeemed for a handcrafted drink, hot breakfast, or parfait according to the company.
Furthermore, Delta has made adjustments to its loyalty program. Members with Diamond and Platinum status can choose 4,000 stars as one of their annual Choice Benefits in 2024, adding another layer of value to the partnership.
Delta customers can also earn SkyMiles through several non-airline-related purchases, such as car rentals through Turo and grocery deliveries with Instacart. However, it is important to note that Delta ceased allowing passengers to earn SkyMiles or elite status on basic economy fares starting in December 2021, serving as a reminder to travelers to maximize their earning potential.
