A nature fund in Northern Jutland in Denmark has imported five elk from Sweden, marking the first time these majestic creatures have roamed free in the nation for 5,000 years.
These magnificent tree-munching mammals have been introduced to naturally manage the birch trees in a unique marshy region known as Lille Vidmose, which holds the title of the largest raised bog in Europe. Initially, the elk will be safeguarded by a protective fence; however, they will soon have the freedom to roam a vast 21-square-kilometre area.
