Chic Denver Hotel Opens in Historic Gilded Age Mansion Featuring Brooklyn’s Beloved Pizza

Urban Cowboy Denver: A New Destination

Urban Cowboy, which originally began as a small bed-and-breakfast in Brooklyn, New York, is expanding its modern Western-inspired hospitality into Denver. In late 2023, the brand will unveil a chic, 16-room boutique hotel in Denver’s historic Capitol Hill district. This stunning property is situated in a meticulously renovated 1880s mansion that once belonged to a hat tycoon turned politician. The hotel boasts an ornate Queen Anne-style facade and an old carriage house, now transformed into the Urban Cowboy Public House, a restaurant and bar featuring cuisine from the renowned Brooklyn-based Roberta’s.

Hotel Design Inspiration

According to Lyon Porter, the brand’s owner, the inspiration for Urban Cowboy’s design came from the Gilded Age, where people would arrive in elaborate horse-drawn buggies, dressed in stylish outfits. Consequently, this theme has been carried through in the hotel’s decor.

Moreover, the property retains its historic charm while integrating modern elements. Original features have been preserved, and the interior incorporates custom wall coverings and unique decor items sourced from various places. Guests will enjoy striking, hand-hammered soaking bathtubs in their rooms, contributing to a decor aesthetic that is both eclectic and reminiscent of history.

About the Public House

The Urban Cowboy Public House takes inspiration from Denver’s saloon culture of the 1880s, serving as a lively bar and restaurant. The food, crafted by Roberta’s, embodies community-focused hospitality. According to Brandon Hoy, co-founder of Roberta’s, both Urban Cowboy and Roberta’s share a dedication to creating unique experiences that foster community connection.

The menu promises an exciting mix featuring seasonal pizzas, delectable local vegetables, and wood-fired dishes, alongside beloved Roberta’s staples like house-made bread and stracciatella.

On-Site Amenities

Guests can expect a range of amenities including room service, luxury bath products, and winter gear storage, making it an ideal pit stop for travelers heading to the nearby mountains.
