1. About the Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Formerly known as the Natural History Museum, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science provides educational fun for visitors of all ages. Founded in 1900 by Denver naturalist Edwin Carter, the museum’s collection features over one million objects sourced from across the globe.

Among the permanent exhibits, the well-loved Expedition Health on level two invites visitors to assess their overall physical well-being. Additionally, the Egyptian Mummies exhibition on level three showcases two sarcophagi from around 3,000 years ago. Visitors can also explore dioramas featuring wildlife from diverse regions, highlighting native Colorado species as well as animals found as far away as Botswana, Africa.

Moreover, the museum boasts an IMAX 3D movie theater and the Gates Planetarium, making it a hub for science and entertainment. The Discovery Zone serves as an engaging play area, specially designed for young children to encourage interactive exploration.

Hours:
Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the museum is closed on Christmas Day.
