Divia Thani’s Vision for 2025: A Letter from the Global Editorial Director

Discovering Six Senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan

On Christmas Eve, my journey led me to the remarkable Six Senses Fort Barwara in the heart of Rajasthan. Despite the uncertainties of planning due to previous travel restrictions, I embraced the experience with open arms. Upon entering this 700-year-old fort, greeted by rose petals, it truly felt like a Christmas miracle.

Though my brother-in-law could not join us from Singapore, the rest of my family was present: my parents, sister, niece, my boyfriend, and his mother. Surprisingly, everything unfurled seamlessly. Rajasthan greeted us with its signature glorious winter—cool yet sunny, adorned with vibrant pink turbans, red saris, and green bangles. Live musicians accompanied the warmth of glowing mashaals, enhancing our delightful holiday experience. We indulged in heavenly massages at the Six Senses spa, nestled within the ancient temple of the fort, where my treatment began with a symbolic act of burning a paper that represented the challenges I’d faced in 2021.

On the festive morning of Christmas, we donned our matching pajamas, capturing a perfect moment together—one where our eyes were actually open! Departing, we carried an array of sweets, including mithai and ghevar, and the airline check-in process was a breeze. The moral? All my efforts, from tests to numerous forms, were well worth it.

Embracing New Beginnings in 2022

As 2022 rolled in, I adopted a fresh mindset brimming with enthusiasm. We’re seeing changes daily—borders are loosening, restrictions are easing, and new venues are springing up to welcome travelers. From resorts to exciting food scenes shaped by sustainability movements, there’s an air of anticipation in the travel industry. Whether it’s a potential cruise in Iceland or visiting a stylish new hotel like Château Voltaire in Paris, I’m ready to seize the moment. This year, I’m committed to choosing travel experiences that are truly memorable—because the memories created far outweigh any minor inconveniences along the way.

The essence of travel lies in the joy of connection, be it with loved ones or in discovering new places. A cherished photo featuring family in matching pajamas? That certainly makes the considerable miles traveled worthwhile.
