The Dorchester has revealed the first photos of its Promenade dining area, part of the hotel’s most extensive renovation since 1989.
Just in time for the holiday season, this legendary hotel, a true London institution dating back to 1931, has transformed its restaurant and introduced the new Artists’ Bar, designed by interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon.
Located on the lobby level, the redesigned space draws inspiration from the British countryside, featuring a nature-inspired color palette and contemporary artworks that celebrate the beauty of English gardens. Interior highlights include sophisticated oak tables surrounded by blue sofas and deep pink chairs, striking black marble columns, and an elegantly molded ceiling in white and soft sage green.
The modern all-day menu, curated by the hotel’s culinary director Martyn Nail, will feature indulgent breakfast offerings such as lobster casserole, alongside healthy lunch options and the property’s signature afternoon tea service. Evening fare will include quail egg tartlets and seasonal British-caught seafood, reflecting local flavors.
The open-plan Promenade also hosts the Artists’ Bar, a lavish venue offering handcrafted cocktails and Champagne, complemented by a selection of fresh seafood, sashimi, and sushi dishes. A highlight of this space is Liberace’s fully restored mirrored piano, accented by an exquisite Lalique crystal chandelier. The walls are adorned with works by contemporary artists that celebrate both London and The Dorchester’s significance within it. Six signature cocktails featured on the menu are named after these artworks, incorporating ingredients inspired by the artists themselves.
Moreover, last year, The Dorchester unveiled a brand-new rooftop bar offering stunning views of London. In December 2021, plans for a property-wide renovation led by Pierre-Yves Rochon and Martin Brudnizki were announced. The hotel is set to unveil the redesign of its rooms and suites in March 2023, while its legendary bar and boutique featuring cakes and flowers are also undergoing renovations. Notably, The Dorchester has remained operational throughout the renovation process.
