Drone technology has come a long way in the past few years, allowing travellers to capture stunning destinations from unique and compelling angles. However, while equipment plays a significant role in achieving the perfect shot, possessing the necessary skills is equally essential.
One remarkable example is Spanish filmmaker Andres Aguilera Morillas, who recently shared a thrilling video showcasing a racing drone plunging down a jungle waterfall in Indonesia. This captivating footage highlights not just the stunning visuals, but also the art of capturing nature from innovative perspectives.
The clip features a drone traveling at top speed down the magnificent Madakaripura Waterfall in Java, Indonesia. The footage opens with the drone soaring upwards towards the top of the falls, subsequently flipping around and heading downwards, gliding over the water before hurtling toward the ground. It then takes a sharp turn, soaring past a valley in the cliff covered with vibrant greenery.
Andres explained, “I try to capture angles that a few years back were impossible and where other types of drones can’t venture. This footage was filmed during a holiday trip with my parents to Indonesia. I believed it was worth the risk of getting as close as possible to the waterfall to achieve the best angle, even at the possibility of losing the drone. And I really got close!”
The response to the video has been astonishing, with the clip amassing 25 million views across platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter. Consequently, Andres’s follower count skyrocketed from 2.5k to 41k in less than four weeks.
He further elaborated on his experience by stating, “When you see the first waterfalls, it feels as though you are on another planet; the sight is just so overwhelming. I used one battery for a three-minute flight, during which I conducted a few test runs before fully unleashing the drone. I attempted another similar shot, but this time going beneath the two waterfalls. That one was even riskier!”
