easyJet’s Flight Resumption Plan Starting June 15

EasyJet Resumes Operations Amid New Safety Measures

Budget airline easyJet will resume operations on 15 June, implementing new biosecurity measures that require both passengers and crew to wear masks. Moreover, there will initially be no food service onboard, as flights operate on a short-haul network.

Ten of easyJet’s 21 European airports are located in the UK, primarily offering domestic flights from London, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Belfast, and Isle of Man. As intra-EU barriers are expected to relax mid-June, easyJet plans to operate profitable routes based on customer demand.

Additionally, the airports operating outside the UK include seven French cities: Paris, Nice, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, and Lille. Additionally, routes will serve Geneva in Switzerland, Lisbon and Porto in Portugal, and Barcelona in Spain. Enhanced aircraft disinfection and mandatory mask-wearing for passengers, cabin, and ground crew are part of the new safety measures.

Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet, stated, “I am really pleased that we will be returning to some flying in the middle of June. These are small and carefully-planned steps that we are taking to resume operations. We will continue to closely monitor the situation across Europe, so when more restrictions are lifted, the schedule will continue to build over time to match demand while also ensuring we are operating efficiently and on routes that our customers want to fly.”
