Childhood Memories and Favorite Places

I grew up in a large family, and I have fond memories of my childhood, eating almonds from the almond tree in our courtyard and playing in water during the hot summers. My favourite place to return to now, apart from our ancestral home, is the elementary school just behind our house in Madinat Khalifa – those memories of crossing the street to school and running back afterward are etched in my mind.

Must-Visit Locations in Qatar

If someone is visiting for 24 hours, there are five essential places to explore:

  • Start the day with a sumptuous, authentic, and healthy breakfast at Shay Al Shoomos in Souq Waqif.
  • Explore the deeper delights of the souk, connecting with the past.
  • Visit Qatar Foundation to witness the country’s investment in culture, science, and education.
  • Tour the Museum of Islamic Art for an authentic cultural experience.
  • Engage with nature at Aspire Park or enjoy the sun at Sealine Beach.

Discovering Qatar’s Richness

One thing I wish people knew about Qatar is that there is so much to explore in such a small country. While you may be able to traverse the nation physically in less than a day, the experiences you can savour in Doha alone are integral to a long holiday. Visitors to Doha quickly realize how we welcome them with open hearts; it feels like coming home. The authenticity of cultural experiences delights and enriches the journey.

Sources of Inspiration

To reconnect with my roots and nourish my soul, I often revisit my ancestral home. When that’s not possible, I turn to my children, who inspire me with their natural curiosity. I also admire Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, who has revolutionized the perception of Arab women globally through her dedication to education and community empowerment, as well as Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, who propels the development of art and culture in our region and beyond. They inspire me to push my boundaries and contribute to a vibrant community of creatives here in Qatar.

Current Excitement in Qatar

Currently, the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022 create an exciting atmosphere filled with positivity and dynamism. Additionally, the ongoing work at iBestTravel, promoting and celebrating global talent, establishes Qatar as a significant film hub in the region, fostering inspiring creative exchanges.

What I Miss When I’m Away

When I am away from Qatar, I miss the warmth of my nation, the genuine affection people have for one another, and how, despite modernity, we maintain our traditions and values.
