The exhibition titled “Envisioning 2001: Stanley Kubrick’s Space Odyssey” examines the myriad inspirations and influences behind the legendary director’s sci-fi masterpiece.

This exhibition delves into Kubrick’s innovative production process and showcases the groundbreaking special effects that earned him his first and only Academy Award. This recognition, while somewhat controversial, remains a testament to his artistry.

What You Can Expect

According to MoMI executive director Carl Goodman, “It is especially fitting that this exhibition will be presented here at MoMI, where screening 2001 in its original 70mm format has become an annual tradition. Moreover, our public spaces, including the spectacular Redstone Theater, are deliberately evocative of the film.” He added, “2001: A Space Odyssey has influenced generations of directors and artists, and continues to captivate audiences around the world.”
