Fonki, a street artist born in France and raised in Canada, is part of the Cambodian diaspora that fled during the Khmer Rouge’s reign in the 1970s. He became an acclaimed street artist in Montreal before making multiple trips to Phnom Penh, drawn by the city’s creative renaissance. In 2017, he settled there, creating street art that reflects Cambodia’s rich history and culture by incorporating architectural motifs, traditional script, and legends into large-scale works and portraits.

The Contemporary Art Scene in Phnom Penh
