Falling for Christmas Filming Locations Revealed

Falling for Christmas: A Romantic Ski Resort Adventure

With Noughties superstar Lindsay Lohan in the lead, this Christmas romcom has taken the holiday movie genre to new heights. Lohan may not be the first to enter the arena, but she’s certainly the biggest, and Falling for Christmas is already a monster hit for Netflix.

Moreover, the movie effectively strikes a balance between humor and heartfelt moments. Lohan shines in her role as Sierra, a classic spoiled daddy’s girl who works as “Vice President of Atmosphere” at her father’s luxury ski lodge. Joining her for the holidays is her influencer boyfriend Tad, but his mountaintop marriage proposal leads to unexpected turmoil, leaving Sierra without her memory and ripe for rescue by the kind-hearted lodge owner Jake.

Christmas Spirit and Scenic Backdrops

Along with life lessons, charming holiday feelings, and romance, the backdrop of a US ski resort serves as a stunning setting. While Sierra’s father rules over an upscale, modern lodge, Jake’s B&B chalet offers an inviting, old-fashioned charm. Consequently, viewers are treated to both luxurious and cozy elements of winter getaways.

Belmont Summit Resort

The production chose the newly built mountain residences of Goldener Hirsch Luxury Hotel in Deer Valley as Sierra’s home resort. Part of the Auberge Resorts Collection, this hotel features 40 sleek, glass-fronted apartments with private balconies and modern amenities tailored for the 21st-century skier. With a rooftop pool and luxurious spa facilities, it provides the perfect festive atmosphere for the film.

North Star Lodge

Jake’s traditional ski lodge adds another layer to the film’s romantic atmosphere. The North Star Lodge is known for its rustic appeal, featuring dark wood furniture that evokes the charm of the Austrian Alps. This setting complements the film’s storyline while offering modern comforts amidst its cozy environment.

Interestingly, although Jake’s lodge interior is depicted at the Goldener Hirsch, the exterior shots were filmed at the Blue Boar Inn located in Midway. This picturesque lodge features a unique architectural style that adds to the film’s enchanting scenery.

Summit Springs

For the fictional resort town of Summit Springs, the production team utilized various locations throughout Utah. Filming took place across Park City and Salt Lake City, adapting to the snowy conditions. For the heartwarming Christmas tree-lighting scene, the Powderhorn Lodge served as the picturesque backdrop, enriching the holiday spirit.

Additionally, the Gardner Village area in West Jordan provided a charming setting for scenes involving Sierra and Jake’s interactions with the community. This shopping village, built around a historic flour mill, sets a delightful stage for the film’s message of finding the true meaning of Christmas.
