Summary
Best Mother-Daughter Getaways in the Palm Beaches
My mom and I often head to the Palm Beaches to enjoy sun, relaxation, and quality time outside our typical routines. When planning a journey with your mother (or daughter), it’s beneficial to choose a destination that caters to both your interests.
We have traveled from the English countryside to Jamaica, yet there’s one destination that consistently captivates us with its warm weather and short flights along the East Coast: the Palm Beaches.
The Palm Beaches encompass 47 miles of stunning Florida coastline, easily accessible via major airlines. Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) is centrally located within the region, while Fort Lauderdale International Airport (FLL) serves as another convenient option for those exploring South Palm Beach County.
You can choose to focus on one part of the Palm Beaches—divided into North, Central, and South regions—or enjoy a delightful road trip along the coast. Along the way, expect glistening blue waters, upscale restaurants, luxury hotels, and a harmonious blend of nature, peaceful neighborhoods, and vibrant cities.
Whether lounging by the beach, enjoying golf, or indulging in a spa day, Florida’s Palm Beaches have something for every mother-daughter duo. Here’s our guide to the best places to stay.
North Region
In the North Region, we explored Palm Beach Gardens and the PGA National Resort, which recently underwent a $100-million renovation. Although not avid golfers, we could not resist the remarkably redesigned rooms and the impressive 40,000-square-foot spa.
A successful mother-daughter trip blends creating memories and enjoying personal time. The PGA National Resort offers opportunities for both. You can play tennis together or enjoy a meal at Chef Jeremy Ford’s steakhouse, The Butcher’s Club. Alternatively, you can swim laps in the saltwater lap pool or find a quiet corner to read or stroll around the resort.
For the best experience, consider staying in one of the 21 Serena and Lily-designed cottages, which offer two bedrooms and bathrooms, providing privacy alongside quality bonding time.
Central Region
Central Palm Beach County features West Palm Beach and the charming Palm Beach. Among the many hotels, The Brazilian Court stands out as a repeat favorite.
Upon entering the property, you’ll immediately feel the tranquility, with moments of serenity found throughout the spacious courtyard. The accommodations range from studios to three-bedroom suites and embody the classic Spanish Colonial style, providing a welcome retreat after a day in the sun.
Our trips typically blend active outings with plenty of relaxation. At The Brazilian Court, we enjoyed complimentary bicycles for a scenic ride down the historic Lake Trail, taking in views of the Intracoastal and the breathtaking Palm Beach architecture. However, much of our time was dedicated to unwinding by the hotel’s beautifully appointed pool, surrounded by palm trees and lush gardens, truly embodying tranquility.
South Region
The recent transformation of The Boca Raton, featuring five new hotel concepts and a luxurious $65-million Harborside Pool Club, was highly anticipated for our 2023 mother-daughter trip. Our first day included floating along a 450-foot lazy river and enjoying the waterslides designed for both kids and adults.
On our final day, we dedicated our time to Spa Palmera, a jewel of The Boca Raton. Inspired by Spain’s Alhambra Palace, Spa Palmera features 44 treatment rooms, waterfall whirlpools, and a serene courtyard with a private spa pool. My mom and I arrived early to enjoy tea and sweet treats in the beautifully adorned waiting area, followed by relaxation by the pool and visits to the sauna and steam room post-treatment.
While mother-daughter bonding can occur anywhere, Spa Palmera and the Palm Beaches ensure time, space, and opportunities for creating lasting memories and special experiences together.
