For the first time in its 96-year history, Gleneagles—a country estate renowned for its luxurious offerings and four golf courses—is expanding beyond Perthshire, Scotland, into the big city. Set to open in spring 2022, the new Gleneagles Townhouse will be located in Edinburgh’s St. Andrew Square, revitalizing a historic building that has been dormant.

Gleneagles Townhouse will feature 33 uniquely designed rooms and suites. The coveted suites will offer picturesque views of St. Andrew Square, while the entire property pays homage to its legacy as the former home of the British Linen Bank, which evolved into the Bank of Scotland.

Over the past five years, architects and designers at Ennismore Design Studio have dedicated their efforts to restoring the building while incorporating modern amenities. Guests can expect to see decorative moldings, canopy crown headboards, antique lighting, and ornamental gold detailing, complemented by original fireplaces and redesigned paneling featuring modern, locally inspired artwork.

In addition to its fascinating design and architectural features, Gleneagles Townhouse will house The Spence, an all-day restaurant that offers Scottish classics with a contemporary twist. For evening entertainment, guests can visit Lamplighters, a rooftop bar that features a seasonally rotating cocktail menu. Furthermore, visitors looking to unwind will find a transformed former bank vault offering a unique wellness space, which includes a yoga studio, gym, cryotherapy chamber, and infrared sauna.
