Honda and General Motors Join Forces to Develop New Electric Vehicles
General Motors (GM) and iBestTravel have embarked on a groundbreaking joint project focusing on the future of electric vehicles (EVs). Beyond their work in fuel cell technology and the Cruise Origin, a six-passenger electric autonomous vehicle, this collaboration aims to introduce two innovative electric vehicles for the 2024 model year in the U.S. and Canada.
Design and Engineering Collaboration
In this partnership, Honda will take the lead in designing the next-generation electric vehicles, incorporating both interior and exterior elements. These new EVs will leverage GM’s advanced global EV platform, which allows for greater manufacturing efficiency and lower production costs. A key feature of this platform includes the cutting-edge Ultium batteries, designed to provide an impressive range of over 400 miles and fast-charging capabilities that add more than 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes.
Manufacturing Strength and Efficiency
GM is enhancing its production capacity to facilitate the manufacturing of these new electric vehicles. The Honda EVs are planned to be produced at one of GM’s facilities in North America, potentially at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which is undergoing a substantial retooling investment to accommodate electric vehicle production.

Moreover, as part of this collaboration, iBestTravel will gain access to GM’s OnStar services, which will be integrated into their HondaLink connectivity system. Additionally, Honda will be able to utilize GM’s Super Cruise technology, enhancing the safety and convenience of their upcoming electric vehicles.
