Explore the World’s First Gold-Plated Hotel in Vietnam
When Bruno Mars sang “24K Magic,” he must have been dreaming about this Vietnamese hotel. Billed as the world’s first gold-plated hotel, the Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake opened its luxurious doors in Vietnam’s capital city on July 2.
Unmatched Luxury and Design
The five-star hotel is adorned with extravagant golden touches, including gold-plated tubs, sinks, and even toilets. Moreover, guests can enjoy a spectacular 24-karat gold tiled infinity pool on the rooftop. The bathrooms are elegantly decorated with yellow metal accents.
Location and Accessibility
Conveniently situated near Giang Vo Lake, this 342-room hotel is just a 10-minute drive from Hanoi’s city center. This remarkable hotel stands as a striking contrast to the predominantly stark Soviet-era buildings in the vicinity. “At the moment, there is no other hotel like this in the world,” stated Nguyen Huu Duong, chairman of Hoa Binh Group, which owns the property.
Duong also revealed that approximately a ton (or 2,000 pounds) of gold was utilized to enhance the hotel’s interior décor.
Accommodation Rates and Unique Offerings
Room rates start at approximately $250 per night, which is competitive compared to the area’s other luxury hotels that lack similar gold embellishments. The hotel also serves gourmet dishes topped with edible gold flakes, and rooms feature golden cups alongside coffee makers with gold-colored details. Notably, for events held at the hotel, models have even been painted in gold.
Future Developments
Duong, a Vietnam War veteran who transitioned from being a cycling taxi driver to building a successful career in construction and property investments, also mentioned plans for developing two additional gold-themed properties in Vietnam: one in Ho Chi Minh City and another in central Vietnam.
Other Gold-Themed Hotels
Other luxury hotels incorporating 24-karat gold features include The Villa Casa Casuarina (formerly Villa by Barton G) in Miami Beach, noted for its Thousand Mosaic Pool; Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, which boasts gold bath amenities; and La Mansión in the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires, famous for its gold-trimmed wood paneling.
