Journey to Río Bec
Traveling to Río Bec is unlike heading to the more accessible ruins like Calakmul. The site isn’t reachable by ordinary cars and venturing solo can lead to getting lost among countless logging roads. For a successful visit, it’s crucial to arrange for a knowledgeable guide ahead of time, ideally utilizing an ATV for the journey. In the driest months, a 4×4 vehicle will suffice, but be prepared for potential challenges with muddy conditions in the rainy season.
The adventure begins the moment you start your journey. The bumpy ride through the wild jungle amplifies the excitement. You’ll find yourself surrounded by the calls of wild parrots, the rustle of monkeys, and the hum of gigantic insects, creating an atmosphere that feels both exhilarating and enchanting.
Exploring the Ruins
Upon your arrival— which could take between one and a half to three hours— allocate time to see both Group A and Group B.
