The Hilton has reopened a hotel in Times Square for the first time since 2020, reintroducing a vibrant accommodation option to New York City just in time for the holiday season and New Year’s Eve.

1. Hilton Times Square Reopens

The Hilton New York Times Square is once again welcoming guests to its 478 rooms located on 42nd Street, according to the hotel group. This substantial 44-story hotel offers stunning views of the skyline and the Hudson River, with select rooms facing the iconic New Year’s Eve ball drop.

“This is an incredibly vibrant time of year in New York, and the reopening of Hilton New York Times Square demonstrates our confidence in the resurgence of this iconic neighborhood,” stated Danny Hughes, Executive Vice President and President, Americas, at Hilton.

This hotel, which initially closed in April 2020, is making a comeback under new ownership after being sold for approximately $85 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. The reopening arrives amidst a challenging landscape where 44 hotels in New York City permanently closed during the pandemic, the highest number in any U.S. city.

Moreover, the hotel now boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center equipped with Peloton bikes and offers three distinct dining options, including a daily breakfast buffet. Later this year, plans are in place to unveil the Pinnacle Bar, which will provide late-night snacks with a view of Times Square.

3. Times Square Hotel Comebacks

However, the Hilton is not alone in its efforts to revive the Times Square area. Last year, Margaritaville Resort Times Square opened on West 40th Street, featuring 234 guest rooms, five restaurants and bars, along with an outdoor heated pool. Additionally, earlier this year, the Hard Rock Hotel opened on 48th Street, offering over 400 rooms and suites alongside music-themed amenities, such as a Crosley Record Player, curated playlists, and a Fender guitar available upon request.

Finally, Broadway has seen a rejuvenation period, with the Great White Way lifting vaccine requirements in May and making masks optional in July.
