Essential Information on Honda and GM Vehicle Recalls

Latest Vehicle Recalls: Honda and GM Updates

Issues with airbag seat weight sensors on certain Honda vehicles and tailgate latches on specific GM vehicles have prompted the automakers to recall a combined total of more than one million vehicles.

Honda Recall Details

Honda is recalling a total of 750,114 vehicles, which encompasses various models including:

  • Honda Accord (2020-2022)
  • Honda Civic (2020-2022)
  • Honda CR-V (2020-2021)
  • Acura MDX (2020-2022)
  • Acura RDX (2020-2022)
  • And many more.

The front passenger seat weight sensor in affected vehicles may crack and short circuit, preventing the airbag from suppressing as intended. Consequently, if an airbag deploys unintentionally during a crash, it significantly increases the risk of injury.

Honda is expected to notify affected owners of the recall by March 18. Owners can contact Honda’s customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for assistance.

GM Recall Overview

GM’s recall affects 323,232 vehicles, including specific model years of Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks equipped with power-unlatching tailgates. The potential issue involves the tailgate’s electronic gate-release switch that may short circuit due to water intrusion, posing a significant safety risk as it may unlatch while the vehicle is in park.

The vehicles involved include:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 2500 (2020-2024)
  • GMC Sierra 2500 (2020-2024)

GM is also anticipated to send notifications to affected owners by March 18. For further information, owners can reach out to Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020.
