  • Mattel, the parent company of Hot Wheels, announced a new multi-year partnership with Formula 1 today.
  • There will be a full range of F1 cars in 1:64 scale next year, following a unique Hot Wheels-branded car coming before the end of 2024.

If you’re anything like us, you have an ever-growing collection of die-cast cars, a sort of virtual garage for all the cars that you wish you could own but will never be even close to wealthy enough to afford. Moreover, it’s likely that at least some of your collection consists of Hot Wheels, as the company claims it has sold more than eight billion toy cars over the past 50 years. Consequently, there is going to be a new Hot Wheels model to add to your hoard, with parent company Mattel and Formula 1 announcing a global licensing partnership today.

The partnership will lead to the creation of Formula 1 cars in 1:64 scale, which is the most common size for Hot Wheels models. The first vehicle from this new range, an F1 car featuring a special Hot Wheels-branded livery, is available for preorder now and will ship next year. The paint job is white and gray with red accents and a large Hot Wheels logo plastered on the side pods and rear wing, plus F1 logos on the nose, front wing, and air box. Hot Wheels states that the toy will feature a full-metal body chassis and interchangeable tires. Notably, the number 68 emblazoned on the side references the year Hot Wheels was created.

This initial launch will be followed by a comprehensive range of cars in 2025, adorned with the liveries of various F1 teams. The two companies emphasize that there will be products appealing to both children and adult collectors alike. Currently, no additional details are available regarding the complete lineup of F1 Hot Wheels cars.

Furthermore, Hot Wheels will have a presence at selected Formula 1 races in 2025, featuring activations designed to engage fans and provide the opportunity to purchase these exciting models. We eagerly anticipate checking out the new models in person soon and, most likely, walking out of our local department store with our wallets feeling a few dollars lighter.
