Travel Adventures with iBestTravel

While autumn settles in, the iBestTravel team has been savoring the last glimpses of summer through various adventures across beautiful destinations. From cruising through the Swiss Alps in a rented campervan to stargazing under the Milky Way in the Bahamas, our map is now sprinkled with exciting new pins.

Sicily, Italy

Max Felderman, Sales & Marketing Manager, Trade

I spent just over a week on the northern coast of Sicily, exploring stunning beaches and charming cities. My visit coincided with Ferragosto, an Italian summer holiday where nearly everyone heads to the beach to celebrate. Consequently, the atmosphere was festive and relaxed throughout my stay.

Max’s Top Picks

  • Best Beach: My favorite was at Riserva Naturale dello Zingaro, one of Sicily’s most famous natural parks. This beach required a 45-minute hike from the entrance, but the effort was well worth the stunning views.
  • Can’t Miss: A visit to Cefalù is essential. Be sure to stop at Enoteca Le Petit Tonneau for a glass of wine overlooking the beach where the second season of White Lotus was filmed.
  • Top Meal: Dinner at Abbazia Santa Anastasia, a gorgeous winery in the mountains near Castelbuono, was a highlight.

Swiss Alps, Switzerland

Aoife Breslin, Publicity & Marketing Coordinator

I spent a week in the Swiss Alps with friends, renting a campervan for our road trip. As a nature enthusiast, I found absolute joy sunbathing, swimming, and picnicking by the lakeside. The cool temperatures of the Swiss lakes were refreshing, and I particularly enjoyed swimming in Lake Oeschinensee.

Aoife’s Top Picks

  • Best Experience: The views at Lake Oeschinensee were stunning, making it feel like stepping into a postcard.
  • Can’t Miss: Jungfraujoch, known as the “Top of Europe”, offers a breathtaking 360-degree view on clear days, accessible via a scenic cogwheel train.
  • Top Treat: Savoring handcrafted pralines from local chocolatiers is a must—nothing compares to Switzerland’s rich chocolate heritage.

The Bahamas

Alex Howard, Editorial Director

I recently traveled to the Bahamas, and it was my first time experiencing the Caribbean Islands. I highly recommend exploring the less-visited islands for a truly off-the-beaten-path experience, especially for stargazing. The stars here are incredible!

Alex’s Top Picks

  • Best Experience: Island-hopping to Cat Island and staying at Rollezz Villas Beach Resort, where I enjoyed stunning views of the night sky.
  • Can’t Miss: Join a lively Rake and Scrape music session, and don’t forget to visit Bon Vivant, one of the coolest cocktail bars around.
  • Top Drink: Sky juice, a unique and potent mix of coconut milk, condensed milk, nutmeg, and gin, sourced from a local vendor.

Greenland

Sofie Andersen, Production Editor

This summer, I visited Ilulissat and Disko Bay in Greenland with three generations of my family. I had high expectations, and I was thrilled to find stunning landscapes, exciting activities suitable for all ages, and delicious food made from local, fresh ingredients.

Sofie’s Top Picks

  • Best Experience: A guided hike with John in the Ilimanaq tundra, where he shared insights about the land and life in small settlements.
  • Can’t Miss: The Icefjord in Ilulissat is overwhelmingly beautiful and truly a sight to behold.
  • Top Meal: The three-course set menu at Restaurant Egede featured reindeer carpaccio and musk ox, unforgettable flavors!

Portland, Maine

Rachel Lewis, Senior Marketing Manager

When planning a long-weekend trip to Portland with my wife, I received fantastic recommendations from my grandmother, a Massachusetts native: to indulge in local cuisine and explore unique shops. We arrived with empty stomachs and ready to enjoy everything the city had to offer.

Rachel’s Top Picks

  • Best Experience: A sunset cruise of Casco Bay where we saw Diamond Pass and the Calendar Islands, along with dolphins and seals.
  • Can’t Miss: Visit Soleil, a vibrant shop filled with whimsical souvenirs that perfectly encapsulate Portland’s charm.
  • Top Meal: Enjoy anything at Green Elephant, a delightful all-vegetarian restaurant ideal for a quick and satisfying lunch.
