A passion for travel is fundamental for working at iBestTravel, prompting our staff in various global offices to share exciting plans for their travels this year.

Heading to: Croatia

To celebrate my 30th birthday, I’m gathering my parents and brother, all residing in Canada, to travel to Croatia. After a similar trip to Portugal for my brother’s 30th, we chose Croatia for its historic cities, captivating coastlines, and delicious cuisine.

Having visited Croatia before, I cherished every moment there. It’s a place filled with Roman ruins for history enthusiasts, serene islands for those seeking relaxation, and fantastic wine, appealing to everyone in the family.

As someone who thoroughly enjoys trip planning, I’m excited to map out the ideal island-hopping route and locate the perfect spot for grilled octopus.

After extensive discussions about our travel plans, I’ll finally visit Trinidad and Tobago, where my friends are based. This southern Caribbean island is celebrated for its vibrant food culture, rich history, and stunning beaches.

This year begins with ski trips in Utah, where I aim to teach my three kids how to ski. Returning to iconic places like Alta, Snowbird, and Park City brings back cherished memories of my childhood skiing adventures.

In spring, I hope to visit my brother in Washington DC to coincide with the city’s famous cherry blossom festival.

Finally, summer is reserved for a family trip to the Smoky Mountains, celebrating my father-in-law’s 60th birthday with a reunion focused on hiking and enjoying hearty meals together.

While I may find the destination wedding trend a bit frustrating, I’m looking forward to a friend’s wedding in Scotland this August. This has encouraged our family to road-trip north, stopping by the stunning Lake District, Trossachs National Park, and the Cairngorms, avoiding airports altogether.

This year’s travel revolves around completing my 30th birthday tradition of exploring family roots. While plans to visit Ireland were altered, I’m using my road trip from Portland to Nashville as a substitute birthday celebration, visiting national parks and scattering my grandmother’s ashes in a state she never got to see.

In 2020, I’m determined to finally make it to Ireland, particularly to visit Dysert O’Dea and trek the Burren while discovering more about my family history.

I plan to tackle the K2 base camp trek in Pakistan this year, having previously completed the Everest base camp hike. Despite the challenges of camping, the achievement of hiking in a serene, less-traveled area is enticing.

Afterwards, I aim to explore key sights in Pakistan as its security situation improves, eager for a deeper understanding of the country.

I’m thrilled to cross a lifelong dream off my list in 2020 by visiting New Orleans during Mardi Gras. The city’s rich music, history, and culinary delights are incredibly appealing, especially amidst the exhilarating festivities.

After experiencing the excitement of competing in the Ironman Copenhagen, my travels in 2020 will revolve around training and competing. Plans include trips to Lanzarote for intense training sessions and a competition in Mallorca.

If all goes well, I’m also eyeing a trip to Hawaii for the grand Ironman World Championship event.

As a new resident of Ireland looking to explore Europe, I’m excited to travel to Belgrade in June for a Nick Cave concert. This will also include a train trip to Montenegro. Additionally, I’ll embark on a hiking adventure along the Portuguese coastline in January.

Since visiting American National Parks is a personal aspiration, in 2020, I’m excited to explore Big Bend National Park in Texas along with four incredible parks in Colorado: Rocky Mountain, Mesa Verde, Great Sand Dunes, and Black Canyon.

Following a big adventure in Europe last year, my 2020 travels will focus on exploring Australia. Initially, I’m heading for a camping retreat on the Mid North Coast of NSW with friends for a week of relaxation.

In summer, my parents will embark on a remarkable journey through the Outback in Queensland, and I’ll likely join them for a few days along the way.
