A Perfect Saturday in Camberwell
We’re all proud of our neighbourhoods, but few match the loyalty of a Camberwell local. It’s bustling, dynamic, and creative. It can feel quite frenetic at times; however, that’s what makes it special. Paired with tree-lined streets like Grove Lane and Camberwell Grove, along with numerous parks, it creates one of the most balanced and interesting London neighbourhoods. Here, we present a local guide to a perfect Saturday spent in Camberwell.
8:00 AM: Yoga at Zen Yoga
One of the places cherished by locals is Zen Yoga. This intimate yoga studio, located adjacent to a beloved pub, Grove House Tavern, offers a serene atmosphere. Dappled light shines through the windows, and the comforting sounds of children playing tennis next door enhance the community vibe. With small class sizes and passionate instructors, it is an ideal location to kick off your day. I particularly enjoy the dynamic vinyasa class to energize my morning; nevertheless, there are plenty of Yin classes available as well. A notable tip: Zen Yoga features acupuncture sessions every Thursday!

9:30 AM: Coffee and Pastries at Lumberjack Coffee
After my invigorating yoga session, it’s time to grab a coffee and pastry from Lumberjack. Located on Camberwell Church Street, this delightful little shop excels in crafting an exceptional flat white. Although the line often extends out the door, it moves quickly. The pastries are irresistibly tasty; I personally adore anything lemon and poppy seed, so I order a slice of loaf and head to the garden. The quaint tables and chairs, alongside walls adorned with cheerful vegetables and fruits, create a perfect ambiance for catching up with friends. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of delicious wines, Italian treats, and captivating local artwork in the back, making it a fun spot to explore post-coffee.
