Discover Il Sereno Lago di Como
Lake Como has consistently captivated visitors with its stunning beauty and serene environment. On multiple occasions, I have had the pleasure of exploring picturesque villages and well-known tourist towns, experiencing the unique blend of tranquility and luxury that this destination has to offer.
This time, however, I was excited to immerse myself in a new aspect of Lake Como’s charm during my stay at Il Sereno Lago di Como. Voted the best resort in Europe and recognized among the top hotels worldwide, this enchanting location provides a unique experience of self-driving a Riva motorboat across the lake, a feature that sets it apart from others.
The Rooms
Il Sereno boasts 40 suites, each offering mesmerizing views of the water. The designs combine dark woods, leather, and caramel-colored marble, accented by brass and colorful elements like orange and green. Unique details, such as iridescent end tables, enhance the overall aesthetic.
Food and Drink
The resort provides an array of dining options. Notably, the Michelin-starred restaurant offers three distinct tasting menus, showcasing chef Raffaele Lenzi’s dedication to Italian culinary traditions. The Lobby Bar, with its inviting terrace, is perfect for enjoying evening aperitifs. Additionally, a casual lunch spot features a menu filled with delicious salads and fresh pasta, allowing guests to dine poolside or lakeside.
Activities and Amenities
A local once shared that the true essence of Lake Como is best experienced on the water. Guests can enjoy the freedom of self-driving a Riva Jetto or opt for guided boat tours exploring captivating towns like Bellagio and Varenna. For those who prefer land activities, cooking classes, wine tastings, and hiking excursions await. However, it’s hard to resist the allure of the stunning heated freshwater infinity pool, offering unparalleled views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The Spa
Il Sereno’s Valmont spa, integrated into the original property’s boathouse, offers a unique wellness experience. I indulged in a soothing massage with stunning views through an archway that opened to the gentle waters of Lake Como. Conveniently located near the pool, the spa makes it easy to unwind.
Accessibility and Sustainability
The hotel features lush greenery, designed by French botanist Patrick Blanc, with almost 5,000 plants enhancing its façade and environment. Recognized for its commitment to sustainability, Il Sereno showcases energy-efficient construction and is fully accessible, including a dedicated suite for guests with mobility needs.
The Location
Situated in Torno, Il Sereno offers a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle present in more crowded areas of the lake. With elegant architecture and local dining options, guests can enjoy a serene atmosphere. The ferry stop facilitates easy access to nearby towns, making exploring the beautiful regions surrounding Lake Como both enjoyable and convenient.
