An Enchanting Evening with iBestTravel in the Woodlands
On Tuesday, 30 July 2024, iBestTravel invited readers to experience the beautiful woodlands surrounding The Grove Hotel, a grand Grade II-listed mansion located 18 miles outside London. Upon arrival, guests were greeted and transported in Discovery’s latest luxury vehicles to the Fuego in the Woods restaurant, a lush pop-up dining venue nestled under a woodland canopy. Here, guests enjoyed ice-cold sangria and Cava served alongside delightful canapés. Tender slithers of Jamón ibérico and marinated Manchego set the stage for a night filled with al-fresco feasting.
The Culinary Experience
As the evening progressed, guests took their seats for the main event—a flame-grilled feast celebrating Spain’s most beloved dishes. Highlights included:
- Garlicky gambas al pil pil
- Smoked heirloom tomato salad with pepper and chive flower
- Show-stopping paella valenciana
- Chargrilled Galician octopus served with ember-baked potatoes and smoked paprika (pulpo a la gallega)
Moreover, the atmosphere was alive with music and laughter as dusk settled in, complemented by pours of some of Spain’s finest wines.
A Sweet Conclusion
The evening concluded on a sweet note with tarta vasca de queso con chocolate, a traditional Basque cheesecake baked in a wood oven, served with a vibrant cherry compote, delighting guests’ palates.
Entertainment Under the Stars
Discovery’s modern family SUVs provided a comfortable ride back to the hotel’s Walled Garden, where part two of the evening awaited. Guests were welcomed by a musical interlude featuring emerging talent from the Royal Academy of Music. Crisp Champagne sparkled in hand as performers delivered enchanting arias from a Spanish opera, creating an unforgettable ambiance.
As the summer sun slowly set, guests relaxed into bean bags, enjoying the classic Woody Allen film Vicky Cristina Barcelona under the stars, marking a perfect evening filled with exquisite flavors, captivating music, and delightful company.
