Israel Welcomes Vaccinated Travelers Starting May

Israel Reopens to Fully-Vaccinated Visitors

Israel has announced the reopening of its borders to fully-vaccinated visitors starting at the end of May. However, the number of entrants will be initially limited.

This announcement is exciting news for travelers eager to explore the tranquil waters of the Dead Sea, the vibrant canyon of Makhtesh Ramon, and the historic sites in Nazareth and Jerusalem. A select number of groups will be permitted entry starting May 23, with the allowance increasing gradually based on public health conditions and the progress of the reopening initiatives. Individual travelers will be welcomed in the subsequent phase of this program, contingent upon health assessments.

Moreover, although travelers must be vaccinated, they will still need to undergo a PCR test prior to their departure to Israel. Upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport, a serological test will also be required. The Israeli government is in discussions to implement a vaccine certification validation process, which may remove the necessity for the serological test in the future.

“After a long, forced break, we are delighted to take the first step in opening our borders to international visitors,” stated Sharon Bershadsky, director of the Israel Tourist Office UK. “From the stunning coast of Tel Aviv to the rich history of Jerusalem, the natural beauty of the Dead Sea, abundant outdoor activities, and a vibrant culinary scene, there are countless reasons for travelers to visit our country. We look forward to welcoming all visitors to Israel as soon as it is safe to do so.”
