The renovation, led by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, encompasses updates to one of the hotel’s signature suites, the iconic pool, and the property’s pool grill. “Splendido is an icon, and so our approach to the project was similar to that of a portrait painter, creating a design centered on the building and one that is as much a restoration as a rejuvenation,” Brudnizki explained.
Drawing inspiration from the coastal villas in Italy’s Liguria region, Brudnizki incorporated local materials—ranging from Carrara and Lavagna marble to Albisola ceramics—creating an ambiance that positions guests in the heart of Portofino.
Luxurious Accommodations
Among the hotel’s prominent accommodations is the Baronessa Suite, featuring a spacious bedroom with a king-size bed, separate living area, private terrace, and direct pool access. The redesign highlights locally sourced antique furniture, new upholstery, and a striking chaise lounge. Brudnizki noted, “We looked to the local flora and fauna and architecture for influences while also championing Ligurian craft.”
Dining Options
Splendido boasts two restaurants and a cocktail bar, including the refreshed Splendido Grill adjacent to the pool. This dining venue will feature hand-painted tiles, exquisite Murano glass pendant lights, and unique Bonacina chairs, culminating in an exceptional dining experience reflective of the local culture.
Pool Restoration
The pool restoration was carefully designed by landscape artist Marco Bay, who harmonized the heated, saltwater pool with the vibrant blue and green hues of the bay. The adjacent pool area features a warm palette of pink, red, and white stones, creating a picturesque atmosphere for relaxation.
