Essential Guide to Jamaica Entry Requirements for Travelers

Traveling to Jamaica: Essential Information

As of Monday 4 October 2021, the UK’s traffic light system for travel has been simplified. Currently, there exists a red list and a rest of world list, which now includes Jamaica. Travel to Jamaica from the UK is allowed, although there are still certain restrictions that travelers should be aware of.

Key Information Before Arriving in Jamaica

Until Friday 29 October, anyone who has been in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, or Peru within 14 days prior to their intended arrival in Jamaica will not be allowed entry unless they are Jamaican citizens.

  • All travelers to Jamaica must obtain a Travel Authorization from the Visit Jamaica website.
  • Those aged 12 and older are required to present proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR or Antigen test taken within three days before arrival.
  • Jamaica operates a Resilient Corridor system, ensuring that tourism services have been thoroughly inspected and comply with required Covid-19 protocols as approved by The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
  • The Resilient Corridors include the coastline from Negril to Port Antonio (North Coast Corridor) and from Milk River to Negril (South Coast Corridor).

Visitors staying in the Resilient Corridors do not need to quarantine and can freely explore approved attractions within the corridor. However, fully vaccinated travelers staying outside of the Resilient Corridors must quarantine for eight days upon arrival, while unvaccinated travelers face a 14-day quarantine requirement.

Requirements for Returning to the UK from Jamaica

Upon returning to the UK, fully vaccinated travelers must fill out a Passenger Locator Form. A lateral flow test, which has replaced the PCR test, must be taken on or before day two after return, with results registered online. Conversely, unvaccinated travelers are required to take a pre-departure test and PCR tests on or before days two and eight, in addition to isolating for 10 days, with an option to test for release from day five. It is important to remember that the UK’s travel rules are reviewed every three weeks.

Conclusion

Understanding these travel requirements and health protocols is crucial for a smooth journey to Jamaica and back to the UK. Stay informed to enjoy your travels safely and responsibly.
