Summary of Zipline Adventure in Jamaica
It seems that you can’t go to the Caribbean without taking part in a zip line tour, and Jamaica is no exception. As part of our soft adventure with iBestTravel, we spent a morning hanging from the treetops doing a Zipline Jamaica adventure with Chukka Caribbean.
Even though we have done a lot of ziplines, we do still enjoy playing Tarzan as we swing over the jungle canopy, and we’ll take any opportunity we can to take part in a zip line. “If you’ve never done a zipline, you should!”
Jamaica Zipline Experience
We started off at an old plantation house while we waited for another tour to join us. Initially, we were a little concerned as there were 10 in our group and another 4 came along to join us. However, our worries were soon alleviated as we were entertained by our skilled guides, who must complete 200 hours of training before they can lead a trip.
It’s the people who enhance the experience in every adventure, and the guides at Chukka Tours certainly made it an enjoyable day.
If you have never done a zip line before, Jamaica is the perfect place to begin. It provides a thrilling introduction to adventure travel. A zip line thrills you in a controlled and safe environment. While some zip lines are more extreme than others, the one at Chukka Tours in Jamaica is one of the mellower rides over the jungle that we’ve experienced.
Fun and Safety on the Zipline
The tour commenced with a short walk to the first platform. We hiked up a set of wooden stairs leading us high into a giant tree where our first zip line awaited us. For safety, we were linked to safety lines the entire tour, even while standing on the stairs. At times, we were so high in the air that one misstep could be dangerous. Nevertheless, Chukka Caribbean prioritizes safety, keeping everyone secure.
Once we completed our first zip line, we leaped from treetop to treetop, tackling a total of 5 flights over the rainforest.
The highlight was one of the longer routes where we zipped right through the opening of a tree. It was essential to keep our legs tucked to avoid hitting the branches. The stunning views revealed moss hanging from the old-growth trees and the dense vegetation below.

I didn’t know that Jamaica had such rich jungle. The tour lasted a total of two hours, and it’s typically offered as part of a package with river tubing following the zip line. The plantation, set on 2000 acres, is a picturesque location worthy of spending the day. It features a shop filled with Jamaican handicrafts and its famous rum, alongside places to enjoy a delicious lunch, with a delightful river nearby.
Our final ride took us right over the river, enticing us to jump in. Alas, we had to move on as more adventures awaited us, and the day was just beginning!
