Travel Essentials with Jo Malone
11 August 2023
Jo Malone is easily one of the most recognizable names in beauty and business. She started her career as a facialist but discovered her talent for creating incredible scent blends, which she initially produced in her own kitchen. Eventually, her brand gained cult status, and she sold it to Estee Lauder Companies in 1999, remaining as Creative Director until 2006.
After a hiatus and a battle with cancer, she launched a new brand in 2011, inspired by cherished moments in her life. Her recent scent, Ebony and Cassis, draws inspiration from a visit to Oman: “I spent time looking at the stars and watching the dolphins swim and realized what an amazing adventure life is. We’re such a tiny part of such a big world, and that’s why the bottle of Ebony and Cassis has been decorated with purple and silver. It’s like you’re sitting on the bow of the boat looking up at the night sky,” she says.
