Opening Details
The Jonas family is bringing their southern cooking restaurant to Las Vegas this year.
Set to open in the spring at the MGM Grand, the second location of Nellie’s Southern Kitchen promises to deliver delicious food, live music, and plenty of soul to Sin City, Kevin Jonas Sr. — father of famed brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick — informed iBestTravel in an interview.
“The family has a history in Las Vegas, with MGM, it’s where the Jonas Brothers kicked off their [‘Remember Me’] tour,” he said of the restaurant’s upcoming launch.
Named after the brothers’ great-grandmother, the family matriarch grew up and raised her family in Belmont, N.C., where the original restaurant stands. Furthermore, Kevin Sr. mentioned that despite the contrast to its humble southern origins, the family recognized that Las Vegas was the ideal location for a second establishment due to the famous brothers’ international fanbase.
Menu Highlights
Visitors to Nellie’s Southern Kitchen can expect a vast selection of southern delicacies, including chicken and dumplings, Carolina BBQ sauces, and homemade sausage and biscuits. Moreover, the culinary experience will be complemented by a vibrant atmosphere, offering patrons a taste of authentic southern hospitality.
Musical Experience
Naturally, music will be a central feature of the restaurant. “Growing up we were encouraged to sing around the table,” Kevin Sr. remarked, highlighting that the musical offerings will include not only country music but also classic sing-along hits that everyone knows. This approach aims to create a warm and engaging environment for diners.
The Las Vegas location will include a stage, ensuring that the musical experience enhances the overall dining atmosphere. Consequently, guests can look forward to lively performances and an engaging ambiance that celebrates both food and music.
Of course, food will be one of the biggest attractions at Nellie’s. Kevin Sr. plans to bring over the entire menu from North Carolina, along with some exclusive offerings tailored for the Vegas location, thereby making it a must-visit restaurant. Additionally, navigating the ongoing pandemic and labor challenges, the restaurant will initially open just for dinner, eventually expanding its operations to include lunch and brunch.
Until the Las Vegas location opens, enthusiasts of southern cooking can visit the original Nellie’s, which operates six days a week and is conveniently located just six miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
