Universal Orlando Resort has teased the public with the first look at its Jurassic World VelociCoaster, a new offering which according to the company will be its most thrilling and intense rollercoaster ever, inspired by and based on the beloved film franchise Jurassic World.
Due to open in summer 2021 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster will be Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster ever. The company recently shared an image of the ride vehicle that visitors will sit in, showcasing a futuristic blue and silver pod complete with vibrant lights and raptor scratches. The experience promises “intense manoeuvres that will send guests catapulting up to 70 miles per hour and more than 150 feet in the air,” and will feature an original storyline that expands on the films.
The ride features the original cast of the films, with Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu. Riders will embark on a high-speed chase alongside a pack of velociraptors. Spanning more than 700 feet of track, this exhilarating rollercoaster performs a series of high-speed movements, including twists above land, 360-degree barrel rolls inches above water, and thrilling “near-misses.” Notably, it also features two high-speed launches; one reaches 70 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds.
“Jurassic World VelociCoaster will be the next exciting addition to Jurassic Park at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. In this immersive land, visitors can come face-to-face with life-size dinosaurs in incredible theme park experiences. Attractions include Jurassic Park River Adventure, where a leisure raft ride turns into a daring eight-story plunge to escape a ferocious T. Rex, and Raptor Encounter, where guests can test their bravery and get up close to Velociraptor Blue and the newest additions to the paddock – baby raptors – while learning more about these clever carnivores,” a representative of Universal Orlando Resort stated.
More details on the rollercoaster are expected to be revealed in the coming months, with comprehensive information available at the official Universal Orlando Resort website.
