Lahore International Airport Upgrade
The main international airport in Lahore will close its main runway for 12 hours each day starting this Saturday. This temporary closure allows engineers to install a new fly-by-wire Instrument Landing System.
The new system uses radio waves and advanced technology to assist planes in landing safely during low visibility conditions, a frequent issue in Lahore due to winter fog that settles on the Gangetic plain. This upgrade could significantly reduce the number of delays and cancellations at the airport every year.
Lahore’s second runway will operate during the partial closures, which are scheduled to continue until December 11. This improvement in airport infrastructure is anticipated to enhance the travel experience for passengers and improve overall safety.
