Space tourism is slowly becoming a reality, with billionaires making seemingly regular visits to the stars and the world’s first space hotel planned to make its debut in 2027. Despite the promising progress, it may take a while before space tourism is available at a more accessible price point.

What to Expect From Moon Resorts Las Vegas

Canadian-based company Moon World Resorts Inc. has announced plans for a $5 billion, 5.5-million-square-foot hotel. Its signature feature will be a replica of the moon, measuring 735 feet tall and 650 feet wide.

The lunar replica will be 1/75,000 the size of the actual moon, but it will provide ample space for 4,000 guest rooms and suites. Additionally, Moon Resorts Las Vegas will offer a vast array of amenities, including:

• A 75,000-square-foot spa
• 50,000 square feet dedicated to food and beverage options
• 75,000 square feet for retail spaces
• 150,000 square feet of clubs and lounges

Entertainment Options

Guests can expect a variety of entertainment options, including:

• A 2,500-seat theater
• A planetarium
• A 5,000-seat event center
• A 10,000-seat arena
• A casino

Moreover, the moon-themed nightclub will be positioned directly under a “spaceship,” adding to the unique atmosphere of the venue, as reported by Daily Mail.

Exploring the Lunar Colony

The main highlight of this innovative property will be the “active lunar colony,” located in the upper half of the moon structure. This colony will “precisely mimic those [lunar colonies] currently under serious active planning by NASA, ESA, and many other organizations.” For a ticket price of $500, visitors will have the chance to spend 90 minutes exploring this 10-acre space while using a “moon buggy” to navigate the craters.

Getting to this main attraction will be an adventure in itself, as guests will ride a rollercoaster-like “moon shuttle” around the hotel’s exterior, heading towards the lunar colony.

With Moon [World Resorts], for $500, they can walk on an authentic lunar surface and enjoy exploring a lunar colony in a spectacular way.”

Future Plans

Moon Resorts Las Vegas is expected to take about four years to construct. It is one of four lunar-themed properties planned to open around the world in 2026 or 2027. Other locations include the Middle East, China, and Spain.
