Strelec

Located in an old medieval castle atop a hill, Strelec features a stunning Michelin-starred fine dining experience with French-Slovenian seasonal tasting menus. Its circular dining room offers incredible panoramic views of the city and nearby snow-capped mountains.

Burek Olimpija

When the night gets lively, heading to Burek Olimpija is a must. Open almost 24 hours a day, this spot is beloved for its late-night burek. The cheese pastry is a highlight, but the apple, spinach, and meat options are equally delicious.

Dragon Bridge

Ljubljana is known for its greenery, and taking a stroll through its old town by the river Ljubljanica is a delight. The Dragon Bridge, adorned with large copper dragons, is a beloved symbol of the city. Legend has it that the dragons wag their tails when a virgin crosses the bridge, adding to its charm.

Tozd and Movia

For after-dinner drinks, visit the laid-back Tozd bar by the riverbank. With craft beers from local breweries and delicious home-roasted cold brew coffee served in signature orange mugs, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. Alternatively, Movia, a cozy wine bar, showcases Slovenia’s remarkable wine selection, including unique orange varieties.

Lolita and Vigo

Coffee, cakes, and ice cream are staples of Slovenian culture. Located by the river, Lolita is famous for the best hot chocolate in town. In the summer, head to Vigò for a refreshing pistachio and dark chocolate ice cream treat.

Tabar

In the heart of the old town, TaBar offers Slovenian-inspired tapas and an excellent wine selection. A must-try is the roast octopus served with polenta, which highlights the staple ingredients of Slovenian cuisine. Enjoy your meal outside in Ribji Trg, a charming plaza with a fountain.

Plečnik’s Arcade

Every Saturday, the farmers’ market at Plečnik’s Arcade is a destination for purchasing pumpkin oil—a Slovenian specialty—and wild mushrooms in autumn. On Fridays, the market hosts Open Kitchen, showcasing Slovenian street food. Slovenia’s cuisine reflects its unique geography, blending northern Italian dishes, such as pasta and dumplings, with Alpine elements like wild mushrooms and meats.

Moderna Galerija

On Sundays, visiting the Moderna Galerija to explore the latest art exhibitions is a rewarding experience, often followed by a relaxing stroll in Tivoli Park, located conveniently behind the gallery.
