Exciting New Theme Park Resort Near London to Open in 2025

The London Resort: A New Era of Theme Parks Just Outside London

Plans for an exciting and ambitious new theme park resort located less than 20 miles outside central London are shaping up — and so far, it looks incredible. Current plans for the £3.5 billion London Resort include the development of two theme parks, a water park, thousands of hotel rooms, ferry terminals on the Thames River, and much more in an area on the Swanscombe Peninsula in Kent. Just 17 miles from central London by train, The London Resort aims to open in 2024, if approved.

Upcoming Attractions at The London Resort

The first theme park is scheduled to open in 2024, with a second park planned to follow within five years. According to The London Resort’s website, approximately 70% of the attractions will be undercover — a fantastic feature considering the often-drizzly British weather. So, what can guests anticipate from this exciting new entertainment complex?

Theme Park Layout and Immersive Experiences

The first theme park will include six immersive lands, each showcasing unique imaginative themes along with attractions and architecture. Guests will enter through The High Street — bustling with shops, hotels, restaurants, a water park, and more — before reaching The Studios, which is described as a “gritty, modern-day warehouse district” that offers thrilling cinematic experiences, according to the website. The Woods will bring storybook fantasy to life, offering a fresh spin on beloved bedtime stories, fables, and fairy tales. Moreover, there’s The Kingdom, a realm filled with swords, sorcery, dragons, and legend.

The Isles promises impressive architecture and innovative rides in a land described as a “land of giant creatures, mythical beasts, and adventures at the crossroads of imagination and reality.” Guests can wander through ancient ruins in The Jungle or experience sci-fi adventures at The Starport, featuring futuristic experiences, alien encounters, and high-thrill rides.

A Unique Partnership

Despite being dubbed the “U.K. Disneyland” in British media, it’s important to clarify that this resort is not affiliated with Disney. The London Resort has partnered with BBC, ITV Studios, and Paramount Pictures to integrate their intellectual properties, including movies, characters, and shows, into the resort. In addition to its proposed attractions, hotels, and entertainment venues, the impressive resort aims to become the “first operationally carbon-neutral theme park,” according to a statement shared with iBestTravel.

For those eager to experience this innovative theme park, stay tuned as more information and updates unfold.
