Experience Cabo’s First Speakeasy: La Botica at Las Ventanas al Paraíso
Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a prestigious five-star Rosewood resort in Mexico, has elevated Cabo’s nightlife with the debut of the region’s first-ever speakeasy. Drawing inspiration from the Prohibition era, when serving alcohol was illegal, La Botica offers an enchanting late-night escape.
A Nod to the Roaring ’20s
La Botica, which translates to “drugstore,” is a sensory celebration of the 1920s. Every detail, from the elegant decor to live performances and a menu of creative cocktails and small plates, is meticulously crafted to replicate the essence of the Prohibition period.
Entry to the Hidden Gem
True to speakeasy tradition, La Botica is hidden from plain sight. Guests enter through a discreet door near the spa, and to access this exclusive venue, the secret code “80” must be entered. Inside, visitors are captivated by a glamorous atmosphere reminiscent of vintage apothecaries.
Signature Cocktails and Culinary Delights
The bar features herbal and wellness-focused craft cocktails, curated by bar manager Philipp Zaigue, a skilled mixologist known for co-founding the acclaimed speakeasy “Hank Panky” in Mexico City. Zaigue’s experiences around the globe inspired a unique menu showcasing inventive beverages made with organic produce, spices, and botanicals.
Signature drinks include the refreshing Saffron Daiquiri, crafted with artisanal rum, sherry, kaffir lime, and saffron, along with La Botica, featuring Monkey 47 Gin, fresh apple juice, and passionfruit-vanilla syrup. Guests can also enjoy a variety of Prohibition-era classics, low-proof libations, mocktails, aperitifs, and a selection of tequila and mezcal that pay homage to the region’s rich culture.
Delicious Gastronomy and Live Entertainment
Accompanying the crafted cocktails is a delectable menu featuring savory snacks, such as corn palomitas sprinkled with house chili powder and cheese croquettes served with Serrano ham and aioli. Guests can enjoy the ambiance further with live jazz music and ’20s-inspired entertainment. The property launched its first official Artist in Residence, Rosalía de Cuba, who enchants audiences with her vibrant performances blending Caribbean, Cuban, and Latin styles. A truly memorable exit awaits as patrons can depart through a hidden door mimicking a vintage Coca-Cola refrigerator.
A New Chapter for Nightlife in Los Cabos
Frederic Vidal, managing director of the property, shares, “The opening of La Botica marks an exciting development for Los Cabos, as visitors now have an exclusive venue at a hotel to enjoy innovative cocktails and live music.” This hotel speakeasy not only celebrates the past but also presents it in a modern context, making it an essential destination for anyone visiting Mexico’s stunning beach paradise.
Plan Your Visit
La Botica welcomes hotel guests and visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, starting at 7 p.m. until 2 a.m., featuring live music from 9 p.m. to midnight. If cocktails aren’t your preference, Las Ventanas al Paraíso also offers two other bars: an open-air tequila and ceviche bar and a magnificent wine cellar named La Cava.
