The U.S. EV automaker is hoping its premium Air sedan and Gravity SUV will be priced right in a tough market.
EV demand has been in a bit of a funk in recent months. Consequently, automakers have been cutting production and sales projections while slashing prices to move more vehicles. It couldn’t have come at a worse time for U.S. EV startup Lucid Motors, which has been quickly ramping up production and broadening out the lineup of its all-electric Air sedan (our 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year), only to be met with stagnation in the market. This has, in part, led to a growing pile of vehicle inventory that isn’t moving as swiftly as it would like.
However, the good news is Lucid is steadily addressing its initial challenges and is optimistic that its all-new Gravity SUV will be a breakthrough model that rises above the recent EV sales downturn. So far, Lucid has positioned itself at the premium end of the EV pricing spectrum, although it recently reduced prices across most of the Air lineup. How much is the cost of a Lucid, anyway? And what do you get for that investment? Check out the latest in Lucid pricing outlined below.
2024 Lucid Air Pure RWD Specs
The most affordable Lucid EV sedan available is the Air Pure, which now exclusively offers a single-motor, rear-wheel drive powertrain (it has removed the all-wheel drive option). This entry-level model features a 16-module, 88-kWh battery pack that provides an impressive 419 miles of range. The car generates 430 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in a claimed 4.5 seconds.
2024 Lucid Air Pure RWD Pricing
The 2024 Lucid Air Pure RWD starts at $71,400 (including the $1,500 destination charge), following a $7,500 price reduction in early 2024. There is also a newly available $2,500 Comfort and Convenience package that includes features such as a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, soft-close doors, four-zone climate control, and power rear window sunshades. Buyers can upgrade to the DreamDrive Premium ($2,000) or Pro ($6,750) driver assistance packages, the upgraded Surreal Sound Pro ($2,900) speaker configuration, and an enhanced 20-way adjustable front seating package ($3,750).
2024 Lucid Air Touring AWD Specs
To acquire the Air sedan with all-wheel drive, customers must upgrade from the Pure trim to the Touring trim, which is exclusively equipped with a dual-motor AWD. This variant utilizes a slightly larger 18-module, 92-kWh battery pack, promising a targeted range of 411 miles per charge. It delivers up to 620 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 3.4 seconds, offering both increased performance and range compared to the outgoing 2023 Pure AWD trim, which is now unavailable for order.
2024 Lucid Air Touring AWD Pricing
The 2024 Lucid Air Touring AWD starts at $79,400, down from the previous $87,400. It is now available with its own version of the Comfort and Convenience package ($3,000), which adds heated wipers and a power-opening front trunk, as well as an optional front seat upgrade ($3,750), along with the same Surreal Sound and DreamDrive options as the Pure model.
2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring AWD Specs and Pricing
Lucid recently announced updates for the 2024 Air Grand Touring model, reflecting a $1,000 price cut to $111,400. It maintains a 22-module battery pack, providing the highest range in the Air lineup (over 500 miles!), delivering 819 hp through all four wheels, and achieving a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of 3.0 seconds.
2024 Lucid Air Sapphire AWD Specs and Pricing
Lucid introduced the Air Sapphire AWD, a three-motor performance variant in Q3 2023, boasting 1,234 hp, a blisteringly quick 0 to 60 mph time of 1.89 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph, along with an EPA-estimated range of 427 miles. The price for the Sapphire is listed at $250,500 when “fully-equipped” with most features offered on the Air sedan line.
2024 Lucid Air Production
The updated 2024 Lucid Air Pure and Touring models can be configured and ordered directly on the automaker’s website now. As previously mentioned, more information on the 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring, including its range and pricing, will be announced in early 2024 when that trim becomes available for configuration and ordering.
- Pure RWD – $71,400
- Pure AWD – $76,400
- Touring AWD – $79,400
- Grand Touring AWD – $111,400
- Sapphire Tri-Motor AWD – $250,500
2025 Lucid Gravity SUV Specs and Pricing
While we await the final production details for the upcoming Lucid Gravity SUV, we know some basics: the standard model will feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain capable of 440 miles of range on a single charge. Additionally, you’ll have the option of choosing between two- or three-row interior configurations, likely accommodating up to seven passengers.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but we anticipate Lucid will start around $80,000 to remain competitive with established luxury EV offerings in the segment, including Rivian R1S, BMW iX, Audi e-Tron, and Mercedes EQE, which are currently available in the market.
Are Lucid EVs Available For Tax Credits?
No current Lucid Air sedan qualifies for the U.S. government’s $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs. According to the requirements for this tax credit, an EV sedan cannot have an MSRP exceeding $55,000 for eligibility ($80,000 for SUVs, vans, and pickup trucks). Lucid’s most affordable model, the Pure, starts significantly above these limits at more than $80,000.
It is also unlikely that the forthcoming Lucid Gravity SUV will qualify for this federal incentive, as its pricing will likely exceed the beneficial threshold as well, though we will have to wait and see where the base model lands.
