Explore 6 Arctic Destinations on a Luxurious Refurbished Boeing 757 Private Jet Trip

Experience Luxury Travel in the Arctic

You’ve probably heard of around-the-world private jet trips, but how about an around-the-Arctic trip? Icelandic travel company The North is launching a three-week journey called Arctic Horizons in 2024, exploring six different Arctic destinations.

Itinerary Highlights

According to Jón Olafur Magnussen, The North’s co-founder, this journey is a carefully curated adventure: “For this carefully curated itinerary, we hand-selected the destinations that have most inspired us during our many journeys into the high latitudes and the Arctic.” Magnussen established the company with his wife, Johanna Eyjolfsdottir, and both bring a wealth of experience from their travel pursuits.

Destination Overview

The experience commences and concludes in Reykjavik, with notable stops in:

  • Ilulissat, Greenland
  • Sonora, Canada
  • Anchorage, Alaska
  • Longyearbyen, Svalbard
  • Alta, Norway

At each of these remarkable stops, guests will enjoy several days in luxury accommodations, exploring the unique charms and highlights of each destination. Activities include:

  • Viewing massive, sculptural icebergs
  • Spotting wildlife such as polar bears, eagles, and humpback whales
  • Engaging with Indigenous cultures throughout the region

The journey also features a celebratory Champagne toast aboard the private jet while flying over the North Pole.

Innovative Travel Mode

Magnussen notes that “To experience the sheer number of unique sights that the Arctic offers, there is no one destination that includes all the iconic highlights of these northern landscapes and habitats.” The use of a private jet facilitates covering vast distances efficiently, utilizing eco-friendly technology and modern fuels.

Culinary Experience on Board

Guests will travel aboard a privately chartered Icelandair Boeing 757-200 that has been specially configured to accommodate a maximum of 50 passengers in lie-flat seats. Moreover, private chefs will be on hand to cater to every taste during the journey.

Looking Ahead: Expansion Plans

As Magnussen expresses hopes for future offerings, he aims to include destinations across northern Asia, such as Mongolia, as well as itineraries utilizing smaller private jets for exclusive access to remote locales that larger aircraft cannot reach.

“Together, we will experience this world of unimaginable space and beauty, where nature helps us to understand the fragility of the entire biosphere and its inhabitants,” Magnussen states, emphasizing the journey’s potential to inspire a deeper appreciation and stewardship of our planet.

The inaugural Arctic Horizons private jet journey is scheduled to take place from July 16 through August 4, 2024, with rates starting at $187,000 per person. For more details, visit thenorth.is.
