Summary
Welcome to La Isla Secreta at Rosewood Mayakoba
Surrounded by lush mangroves and emerald lagoons, Rosewood Mayakoba is one of the best resorts in Mexico. Over the past couple of years, the property has significantly improved with the addition of kitted-out Wellness Suites; the debut of an extravagant Founder’s Villa; and the opening of Zapote Bar, a beautiful space known for its exceptional cocktails made with agave-based spirits.
Earlier this month, the resort quietly launched La Isla Secreta, which translates to “the secret island.” This secluded venue serves as an adults-only lounge located on a private island in an undisclosed location, consequently enhancing the mystery and allure of the space.
Design and Ambience of La Isla Secreta
This bohemian retreat features poufs upholstered in artisanal Yucatán textiles, woven rugs, macramé details, and hanging plants, creating an inviting atmosphere. The flickering candlelight and soft music collectively set an elegant ambiance.
Moreover, the lounge does not follow a formal menu structure, allowing for a unique and personalized experience that aligns with the existing speakeasy vibes.
Unique Cocktails and Spirits
Joshua Monaghan, the resort’s director of mixology, has designed several prohibition-style cocktails tailored to the lounge’s atmosphere. However, La Isla Secreta is also dedicated to showcasing under-the-radar Mexican spirits. Guests can expect an apothecary-style bar stocked with bottles distilled in Mexico, including small-batch agave spirits, Katún gin from Yucatán, Rêves de Whisky from Baja California, and Ron Libertad rum from Chiapas, accompanied by unique Mexican wines and craft beers.
Exclusive Experience and Accessibility
La Isla Secreta is open exclusively to guests of Rosewood Mayakoba. Reservations can be made through a hotel concierge or a guest’s personal butler. Shortly before the reservation, a boat will arrive at the suite’s dock to transport guests to this hidden lounge, adding an element of adventure to the experience.
This unique experience is currently set to last only until spring, making it essential to seize this opportunity.
