Coulibri Ridge Overview
Coulibri Ridge is the newest luxury resort on Dominica. “You really have to want to come to Dominica,” says Dominque Marchand, who with her partner, Daniel Langlois, has just opened the Caribbean island’s third luxury hotel, Coulibri Ridge. And she’s absolutely right.
Key Features of Coulibri Ridge
- 14 near-identical rooms offering breathtaking mountain and ocean views.
- Private sun decks complete with plunge pools.
- Strong commitment to environmental sustainability, utilizing renewable energy and eliminating single-use plastics.
- On-site amenities include two copper-ionized infinity-edge pools, daily yoga classes, a gym, and an indulgent spa.
Getting There
Travelers coming from Los Angeles can take a 1:13 a.m. flight to Miami, followed by a brief layover before reaching the island’s Douglas-Charles Airport by 2:24 p.m. The scenic two-hour drive to the resort, however, is filled with curvy roads that could cause motion sickness.
From the East Coast, daily flights from Miami make travel easier, while limited flights from San Juan, Puerto Rico, also provide options. Dominica’s unique geography with nine volcanoes spans its 250 square miles, creating challenges for accommodating runways and air travel during windy conditions.
Eco-Friendly Practices
Coulibri Ridge is dedicated to preserving its natural surroundings, which is evident in every aspect of the property. Set on the island’s southern tip, the resort enjoys consistent breezes and cooler temperatures that naturally keep pesky insects at bay.
The region boasts an incredible ecological diversity, including 365 rivers and 12 waterfalls, all nurtured by nutrient-rich volcanic soil. Upon entering Coulibri Ridge, guests are greeted by lush greenery leading to the arrival center, where panoramic views of the island’s mountainous landscapes leave a lasting impression.
The resort spans 285 acres with just 14 exclusive rooms. Each structure hosts a lower-level studio and a duplex suite. Duplexes feature exquisite mountain and valley views, while also showcasing stunning ocean vistas.
Culinary Delights
Coulibri Ridge features a culinary program led by Chef Damian Mason, a local with extensive experience in the hospitality industry. The resort’s dining options provide a delightful array of dishes, from fresh breakfast options to innovative dinner menus highlighting local ingredients.
Guests can enjoy hearty breakfast offerings like vegetable omelets and freshly squeezed juices or indulge in Dinner at Vista, which serves dishes like coconut curry lobster in a banana leaf or lentil dal with garlic naan. The culinary experience is complemented by an outdoor dining atmosphere that enhances the scenic surroundings.
With additional amenities like a gym, outdoor yoga classes, two stunning infinity-edge pools, and a luxurious spa, Coulibri Ridge captures the essence of a tranquil Caribbean getaway. Nightly stays start at $650.
